Today is the last viewing of A GOOD LIFE Retrospective Art Exhibition of Trish Robson.

You can also grab a copy of A GOOD LIFE - Life & Love of Trish Robson written by Lee Goossens about how prolific art was in Trish's life. The proceeds of sale go towards an annual bursary which is granted to a graduating high school student from the local community to assist the student in their art career. If you are unable to attend the exhibition, please contact Joe or Erin from Cool Art (details below) to purchase a copy which will be shipped to you.

“My work questions the ‘consumer-oriented’ society in which we live – a society that discards with unashamed regularity. My work is sculptural. It is a response to the inherent beauty of found objects and through subtle and imaginative transformation they assume a new meaning and vitality. For me ugliness and beauty exist in disused objects. It is important to seek out an innate aesthetic, and in doing so elevate the banal to an object of desire.”

Cool Art Picture Framing Gallery is privileged to present- Trish Robson: A Retrospective Exhibition ‘A celebration of the life and love of Trish Robson will be held on 25 October 2019, Trish's birthday. This celebration will shine a light on her wondrous intent, creativity and passion by all who knew and loved her.
The gathering will involve a number of aspects including an exhibition of her work Trish Robson: A Retrospective, a launch of her book A Good Life; and an exhibition of commissioned works in response to Trish’s “A Fairy Tale for Children.”
There will be limited edition prints of Trish’s works from her last exhibition, Memories, for sale. As well, at the artist's discretion, the commissioned works created in response to A Fairy Tale for Children will also be sold. Copies of A Good Life will be available for purchase.
Proceeds from the exhibition will go to fund what is hoped will be a perpetual bursary. This will be awarded annually to a student from Coolum State High School to further their art practice post-secondary school’. - words provided by the family

This exhibition has two layers, the first is a wonderful retrospective of the art created by Trish Robson, a celebration of her life through her work. There is also a second layer of this event, which is the interpretation of her storybook as told by various talented Artists. Some knew her personally and some used their talent to celebrate her story with fresh eyes.

In 1977, Trish was studying at Alexander Mackie in Sydney.

During this period Trish accentuated her work with dots and dashes prior to Ken Done popularized the this style of painting.

Lee Goossens affectionately said "I always thought that she should continue in this style but Trish would not have a bar of it once it became commercialised. So continued the evolution of Trish’s art practice that in itself makes it unique and always cutting edge."

"Cows Head (A friend I met)"

Trish Robson went on an artistic expedition to Caddapan with three other local artists. One of the many enduring stories from this expedition is that of Trish bringing back a dehydrated mummified bullock’s head.

Unfortunately the head was still attached to the body. This didn’t perturb Trish and with only a shovel and a bread and butter knife Trish and her dear friend and fellow artist, Lorna Martin, proceeded to decapitate the beast.

The head, dehydrated skin and bones from the carcass were the basis of a number of artworks produced by Trish, including "Cows Head (A friend I met)".

Trish Robson created these lithographs during her studies at Julian Ashton Art School (JAAS) situated at The Rocks in George Street, Sydney. Trish studied at JAAS from 1970 continuing her studies there until early 1974.
