Thursday 4th June 2026

Lachlan and Western Regional Services Inc
held a morning tea to mark the occasion of National Reconciliation Week 2026, the theme All In.

Marion Packham Condobolin LALC
acknowledged the Wiradjuri land on which we gather and paid Respect to Elders. Marion spoke about the importance of community, language and working together.

Welcome to Deanna Davis TAP Coordinator, we are all looking forward to working with you in the future.

All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself.

By marking these important dates in our calendars and hosting events within our community it helps create culturally safe spaces, fosters understanding, and acknowledges the deep history and ongoing connection of First Nations peoples to their Country.

Fantastic to see the Lachlan Shire Mayor
John Medcalf, General Manager Ian Greenham and Councillor Juanita Coleman,
Central West Family Support Group,
Anne Coffey, Julie Kempton, Alese Keen, Lachlan Youth Services, community members, parents and our young ones.

Today is Mabo Day, which marks the anniversary of the 1992 Eddie Mabo High Court Decision.

This landmark ruling overturned the Terra Nullius doctrine, a false principle that held Australia was "nobody's land" or "land belonging to no one". Terra Nullius disregarded the generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who had lived on Country before colonisation.

The Mabo decision finally recognised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' connection to Land and Country. This was a result of tireless work from Eddie Koiki Mabo, Sam Passi, David Passi, Celuia Mapo Salee, and James Rice filing a legal claim asserting that the Meriam people had traditional rights and a connection to Mer (Murray Island in the Torres Strait).

NSWALC remembers and honours Eddie Mabo and all who have paved the way for today's hard-fought-for Land Rights across the nation, but especially here in NSW.

Land Rights, as we know it in NSW, is at risk following the introduction of the Crown Land Management Amendment (Statutory Review) Bill 2026. NSWALC and the Land Rights Network continue to strongly oppose the Bill and are calling on the NSW Government to halt its progression.

This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land. The fight continues

🖤💛❤️ Dear friends,

The NSW Treaty Commissioners are travelling across the state to sit down with Aboriginal communities and yarn about what Treaty could mean for us here in NSW.

The Treaty Commissioners will be in Condobolin, Thursday 18th June 2026 at the Condobolin RSL, Blue Room, 10am - 12pm.

At each session, they’re asking two questions:
👉🏽 Do Aboriginal communities want a Treaty or another formal agreement-making process? And if so, what should this process look like?

Community members and stakeholders can:
Attend a face to face consultation
Complete an online survey:
Adult Survey
Youth Survey
Make a written (formal or informal) or video submission

Contact the Commission directly to share views or discuss participation:
[email protected]

You don’t need to be an expert or come with a set opinion. Whether you choose to sit and listen, or share your story and ideas, your presence matters. These sessions are for Aboriginal communities only. Elders, young people, families, and community members are all welcome.

This is your opportunity to make sure our voices, hopes, and concerns help shape the path forward. ✨

Today, 26 May, is National Sorry Day.

This day of recognition marks the anniversary of the tabling of the 1997 Federal Parliament Bringing Them Home report, which documented the forced removal of Aboriginal children from their homes and families, now recognised as the Stolen Generations.

NSWALC pays its respects to the bravery, strength and endurance of the Stolen Generations, who faced forced cultural assimilation and cruelty enabled by government policies.

Today, and every day, we are reminded that acknowledging the past and ongoing harms experienced by Aboriginal people in Australia remains unfinished work. We must continue working toward actions and policies that address, heal and prevent intergenerational trauma, while fostering better outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Moving forward, we are mindful of the Uluru Statement From the Heart, first introduced 9 years ago today, which calls for Voice, Truth, and Treaty. The Uluru Statement demonstrates the biggest government consultation with Aboriginal people to date, hopefully leading by example for the Federal and State Governments' near future.

Safety for Aboriginal people, particularly Aboriginal children, is found within our families, Cultures, and Communities, not without.

Today, Thursday 14th May 2026 Members Meeting.

Thank you to the Southern Zone team for coming out to Condobolin to get to know us better and discuss housing.

Thank you Kaitlan Forbes and Luke Platten of NSWALC for being at our Members meeting and overseeing our Casual Vacancy Election.
We unfortunately didn’t get to fill the vacancy so we will be advertising again soon.

The time taken to support us and discuss our concerns has us feeling positive and looking forward to the possibilities.

Can’t wait to see you all at the next meeting.
