Come by Chance Picnic Races Annual Picnic Races held at Come By Chance in NSW. Racing began at Come-By-Chance mid-way through last century and has thrived ever since.

The unusually named village of Come by Chance is situated on the Baradine Creek in the Walgett Shire of NSW, with the name originating from a local property, Come-by-Chance station. In late September every year, thousands - and the odd horse or two - converge on the tiny settlement to cheer home the winner of the Come-By-Chance Picnic Cup (1400m). "The club's been racing for at least 55 years," "I

t was started by locals and one of them used to own Brooklyn Maid which at one stage was one of the favourites for the Golden Slipper. "Most stations back then had horses and the jackaroos used to ride work for the owners, so the racing evolved from that." In recent years the main attraction is of course the racing but it is also a great family day out with novelty races and activities for the kiddies and parents alike!! Lets also not forget that Miss Come-by-Chance is also crowned on the day!!

It’s become one of the most popular spots on the grounds and we absolutely love watching the little racegoers show off their new looks while enjoying a great family day out.

What a crowd favourite 🐶✨

The Dog Jump at the Come By Chance Races was an absolute hit — tails wagging, crowds cheering, and some seriously impressive jumps!

Our four-legged friends well and truly stole the show. With a massive $21,000 in the Calcutta prize pool thanks everyone for supporting it.

To our dogs and owners, thank you for being part of the day!

Yesterday was an absolute cracker – the horses were flying, the crowd was buzzing, and the atmosphere was second to none.
