OPEN CALL: MMCA International Artist/Researcher Residency Program 2027 | South Korea 🇰🇷

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), is now accepting applications for its International Artist/Researcher Residency Program 2027.

The programme offers artists and researchers the opportunity to develop their practice and research while engaging with MMCA’s residency environment, facilities, resources, programmes, activities, and events.

Selected participants will receive a private studio with accommodation, access to residency facilities and resources, and a monthly grant of KRW 1,200,000 for the duration of the residency.

The residency is open across three terms in 2027, with applicants able to apply for one term.

Open to: Artists and researchers with a strong professional practice and research interest.

Residency periods:

1st term: 1 April – 10 June 2027

2nd term: 1 July – 9 September 2027

3rd term: 30 September – 9 December 2027

Selected participants will receive:

• A private studio with accommodation
• Access to residency facilities and resources
• A monthly grant of KRW 1,200,000
• Opportunities to participate in MMCA Residency programmes, activities, and events

Application materials include a CV, portfolio, cover letter, research proposal, and one letter of recommendation.

OPEN CALL: Artistic Research Residency & Grant | Geneva, Switzerland 🇨🇭

The Embassy of Foreign Artists, in partnership with the Centre for Digital Humanities and Multilateralism at the Geneva Graduate Institute, is inviting artists from around the world to apply for a three-month artistic research residency in Geneva, Switzerland.

The programme focuses on archival research within the archives of international organisations based in Geneva. Artists are encouraged to explore archival materials to uncover untold stories, examine international decision-making processes, reflect on multilateral successes and failures, and imagine new possibilities for international cooperation.

Selected artists will receive a CHF 1,400 monthly residency grant, accommodation in a private room, artistic guidance from the Embassy of Foreign Artists, connections with relevant personnel within international organisation archives, and access to participating archives as a primary research resource.

Open to: Artists with a professional artistic practice who are over 28 years old, speak French or English, and can demonstrate a professional body of work including creations, publications, and/or performances. Applicants should propose projects that use the archives of Geneva-based international intergovernmental or non-governmental organisations as their primary research resource.

Introducing Grounded Printshop, a shared creative space in Erie, Pennsylvania, built around the belief that making is better when it happens alongside other people.

Grounded brings together a range of creative practices under one roof, with its main studios dedicated to papermaking, bookmaking, printmaking, and Risograph. Alongside these are independently run studios and creative businesses spanning fiber arts, ceramics, yoga, and more.

More than a studio or workshop, Grounded is a community gathering place where artists work alongside one another, share tools and ideas, teach classes, and create opportunities for connection. The space continues to evolve with the people who call it home, creating an environment where creative exchange and collaboration are part of the everyday practice.

OPEN CALL: Expanded Photography Research Residency | Japan 🇯🇵

FotoCreativaBA, in collaboration with IDEA R LAB in Kurashiki, Japan, is inviting visual artists, contemporary photographers, and researchers from around the world to apply for its Expanded Photography Research Residency.

This hybrid international programme explores expanded photography, visual observation, material processes, local contexts, and transcultural exchange. Rather than focusing solely on production, the programme creates space for research, experimentation, learning, and dialogue.

The programme unfolds across three phases: a 12-month online laboratory featuring monthly curatorial reviews, collective critiques, seminars, and guest lectures; a 1-month on-site residency in Kurashiki focused on fieldwork, site-specific research, and experimentation with local industrial waste; and a closing phase featuring final reviews, open studios, exhibitions, or public activations.

Selected artists will receive accommodation during their month in Japan, access to shared studio facilities, ongoing curatorial mentorship, and an exhibition opportunity at the FotoCreativaBA gallery in Buenos Aires.

Open to: Visual artists, contemporary photographers, and researchers interested in expanded photography, material experimentation, and intercultural research.

OPEN CALL: La Napoule Art Foundation Artist Residency | France 🇫🇷

La Napoule Art Foundation is inviting emerging and established artists from all disciplines to apply for its 2027 International Artist Residency at the historic Château de La Napoule on the French Riviera.

The four-week residency offers artists a unique environment for creative exploration, interdisciplinary exchange, and community building, with time and space to develop their individual practice away from the distractions of everyday life.

Selected artists will live in private rooms with private bathrooms at Villa Marguerite or the Château, with access to dedicated studio spaces across the Château grounds. Residents also receive breakfast and dinner five days a week, as well as a $1,000 stipend towards travel or art materials.

The residency is open to artists working across all artistic disciplines, with approximately 10 artists selected for the cohort.

RMP places a particular focus on supporting marginalized artists and serves as a land-based creative hub for local and international communities. Rooted in the spirit of 実生 (mishō), meaning “seedling,” the residency aims to nurture the emergence of new ideas, perspectives, and creative possibilities.

Vermont Studio Center (VSC) is welcoming applications from visual artists and writers for its 2027 residency programme, offering 2-, 3-, and 4-week residencies in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

The international residency provides artists with private lodging and studio spaces, communal meals, and access to a vibrant creative community through VSC’s Visiting Artist & Writer programme. Artists across disciplines are welcome, with facilities supporting painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, woodworking, metalwork, mixed media, and writing.

Through its fellowship programme, VSC offers full or partial funding to residents selected through a competitive process. Approximately 35% of residents receive full fellowships each year, while partial fellowships significantly reduce the cost of participation.

Residents also have opportunities to present their work through Open Studios and Resident Presentations, while participating in community activities and skill-sharing.

Ey!Studio AiR is inviting artists and creative professionals from around the world to apply for its international residency programme in Carabanchel, one of Madrid’s growing cultural districts.

The programme provides time, space, and context for research, experimentation, and contemporary creation, while supporting residents with opportunities for professional visibility through Ey!Studio’s network and platforms.

Artists can choose between:

Live/Work Residency

Residents can also choose between an independent working format or optional curatorial accompaniment for visual artists and filmmakers.

The programme includes a partial scholarship from Ey!Studio, meaning selected artists contribute only part of the actual residency cost. Invitation or pre-selection letters can also be provided to support applications for external funding.

Participation in public talks, workshops, presentations, and Open Studios is optional. Visual artists and filmmakers can also voluntarily participate in Ey!Studio’s annual group exhibition of residents.
