"Complete Me" highlights the fruits of Annie Gobel's collaborations with Louise Meuwissen, Freya Black, John Brooks, Marcos Guzman, Nell Grant, Bianca Mavrick and Ruby Aitchison.
These collaborations act as metaphors for the construction of friendship, as Annie asks each artist to complete her unfinished works. These collaborations explore the integration of otherness and the consideration of technique, resulting in a multi-faceted show with a fusion of personalities.

Great vid/chat with Abbey Rich for Bailey Nelson!
From launching her self-titled label, showcasing her work in multiple exhibitions and painting murals it's no surprise that Abbey Rich is an aspiring artist who has achieved so much, in so little time.
For our most recent Melbourne store on Gertrude St, we documented the process of our collaboration with Abbey from her Brunswick studio to the finished store.

Annie Gobel's exhibition Complete Me opening on August 10th is featured as a part of Craft Victoria's Craft Cubed Festival. 'Complete Me' displays the results of Annie’s collaboration with artists. Annie has asked them to complete her component works by embedding their artistic touch into it. A series of Annie’s ‘incomplete’ components is also displayed for the audience to quickly complete and join to exhibit on site.
The Craft Cubed festival kicks off tomorrow - a month-long celebration of handmade design, art and objects.

65 Smith Street before we moved in little over a year ago. So many people have put in time, hard work and TLC to make Junior Space happen. This includes you! Without you we wouldn't have a reason to be open. If you have visited a show, bought something from our store or had a drink at an opening, you have made our space what it is today! We have two days left to raise funds to help cover costs associated with our 2017/18 Programs. Please donate what you can, share our campaign and help us get over the line!

2017 CALL OUT
August - December
Apply to Exhibit in JS2
Junior Space is undergoing a restructure of the space mid-year. The front space will become an additional gallery space (JS1) that will be invitation based. JS2 will be the second gallery space and located up the stairs along with the store.
If you have been to our space before, this is where the current gallery is now. It will look and feel the same way – though it will be a bit smaller. Please see the floor plan for more information on the size change.
We are going to be calling ourselves JS Galleries + Store to accommodate the restructure, with Junior Space remaining our official name.
Everything else remains the same – we will still strive to provide the community with an accessible platform for the exhibition and sale of artworks by emerging artists. JS Galleries holds a non-traditional vision of a gallery with an emphasis on project and exhibition concepts designed to push the definition of a traditional gallery space.
For information on how to apply head to our website:

Are you a super fab, creative, emerging Indigenous curator or artist interested in curatorial practice? If so - please get in touch! [email protected]
A great article about our space by Broadsheet melb
It seems like a regular store at first. Continue up these stairs and you'll realise it's not.
Seasons Greetings!
2016 has been a huge year for Junior Space. Since launching with its first exhibition in May the space has supported many incredible creatives and I am feeling very proud of the achievements the space has had in such a short period of time.
Junior Space has hosted 11 exhibitions, a workshop series, a market, a pop-up store, a series of plays, 3 cinema screenings, 2 book launches, and life-drawing classes.
Alongside this, the Junior Space store has stocked, promoted and sold work from over 70 emerging artists, hailing locally and internationally.
I would like to thank everyone I have had the pleasure of working with in 2016, the artists who entrusted a new space with their brilliant work, my fabulous interns, and the approx. 5000 people who came through our doors this year, for supporting Junior Space in its infancy.
I am very excited to announce the 2017 Exhibition Program for the first half of next year. Please visit www.juniorspace.com.au for more information.
Happy Holidays,
Bec Capp
