🎆 A little look back at the lights 🎆

If you’ve been to a Coleraine Show you’ll know the magic of our evening sessions, the showground lit up, the crowd gathered, and then the fireworks finale.

We’ve been so lucky to have had some truly spectacular evening shows and fireworks displays over the years. They wouldn’t have been possible without our longstanding friend Jason Shepherd. Jason, thank you so much for all the time, effort, skill and late nights you’ve put in to give our community those unforgettable moments. We appreciate you enormously!

After much discussion, the Show Committee has made the difficult decision to bring our evening program and fireworks to a close.

However, our popular evening show and farmers challenge will now become an afternoon event. A bit of fun, a bit of friendly competition, and a great way to celebrate our farming heart while the sun is still up.

Thank you to everyone who has come along and supported our evening shows and fireworks over the years. We hope you’ll love this new afternoon chapter just as much.

This week, we’re taking a trip back in time to the sheep judging at the Coleraine Show!

A great snapshot of show day, with exhibitors proudly presenting their sheep and the judges taking a close look at the entries 🐑🏆

Although sheep showing is no longer a part of our show, it was once an important feature of the livestock section and a much loved part of the day for many years.

✨ Meet the Committee – Introducing Jessica Sutherland ✨

Behind every great show is a dedicated team. Leading ours is Jessica Sutherland. A local farmer from Konongwootong, Jessica has been involved with our show since 1977. Many will remember her from her time as sheep steward where she worked alongside Ray Sutherland supporting exhibitors and showcasing local sheep.

As President, Jess works hard to guide the committee and keep our show moving forward. One of her biggest focuses at hand is the rebuilding of our Pavilion, tackling challenges head on to ensure more opportunities for our show.

Jessica’s passion, determination and commitment to our committee are invaluable and we’re incredibly grateful for everything she does.

The Wood Chop was once a much loved part of our show. It brought plenty of skill, strength and excitement to the showgrounds!

This great throwback captures competitors in action as they take on the logs, showcasing the determination and skill that made the Wood Chop such an entertaining event for spectators.

While the Wood Chop is no longer part of our show, it’s always wonderful to look back at some of the events and traditions that have been part of the Coleraine Show over the years.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) situation in Victoria, poultry will not be able to be exhibited at this year’s Coleraine Show.

We know this will be disappointing news for our dedicated poultry exhibitors and for those who look forward to seeing the poultry section each year. However, the health and biosecurity of our exhibitors, their birds and the wider poultry industry must come first.

To celebrate the wonderful poultry we’ve enjoyed over the years, we’ve put together a selection of photos from previous Coleraine Shows. These photos capture just some of the fantastic birds, exhibitors and memories that have been part of our show.

While we’ll certainly miss having poultry at the show, we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Coleraine Show and celebrating all of the other wonderful sections our show has to offer! 🎈
