This made me so proud π
One of our dancers came into class unprompted with her dance journal, already taking notes and putting in the work to prepare for ballet exams.
We live in a world where everything can be recorded, saved, screenshotted or checked later, and while that is helpful, I do think sometimes our brains donβt hold onto information in quite the same way. We know we can come back and check it later, so we donβt always feel the same need to retain it.
It doesnβt need to be fancy. It might just be:
- noting a correction from class
- something to practise at home
- a reminder about posture, turnout, arms or eyeline
- a goal for next week
- a note about what felt better
Dance training is not just about being told what to fix. It is about learning how to learn, and seeing young dancers begin to take ownership of their dance journey is so special as a teacher!
