Today is Connor’s birthday and the entire Balloon Story crew paused and gathered under our giant tunnel to record us singing to him.

Connor loves balloon twisting, loves working, and loves being part of something bigger than himself.
Today, that something wrapped right around him.

In my happy place with .live in Melbourne.

I'm working with some of the most amazing and talented artists. We have so many teams all working together bringing different parts of this exhibition together.

It's a beautiful thing to be able to work with so many people who have the same work ethic as yourself. We are all working so hard, building each other up, encouraging one another and let's face it there's a whole lot of 'boring repetitive' happening for hours and days when you're inflating and tying and building this many balloons.

We know that the end result is going to create a sense of awe and wonder for so many. And that's what makes this all worth it. So we're all just getting in amongst it and getting it done.

This sea of balloons that I'm in will become an underwater tunnel, it'll be rigged into place tomorrow.

Half a million balloons. One giant team. 🎈

Whenever I’m asked what my favourite thing to build is, the answer is always the same, anything that’s a team build.

Standing inside the .live Balloon Story Australia installation today at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, watching so many hands from all over the world turning chaos into something magical… this is my happy place.

No egos. No solos. Just problem-solving, laughter, colour, friendship and a whole lot of balloons.
This is what collaboration looks like.
This is why I love what I do.

Any guesses on what I've been building?

I've been at Story LIVE in Sydney today helping out with the PreBuild. This is where we build all the armatures.

Armatures is a fancy word for frames. It's essentially the supportive skeletons that will hold the balloons.

We're going to be using over half a million balloons in each location.

if you're heading to Sydney or Melbourne from Mid January through to April School holidays, then put this on your bucket list. Early bird tickets to the exhibits are currently 15% Off.

If you're a balloon artist, and you really really want to join the build but the cost is a bit prohibitive. Reach out, I'd love to try and help you come along, even if just for a day. This has been an amazing experience so far.
