The Lyrebirds Community Choir We are a gathering of all ability humans who enjoy singing and having a fabulous time doing so! We also enjoy a supper at the end of every term.

The Lyrebirds Community Choir is an All Abilities group of People who love to Sing and enjoy having a Fabulous time. We are very lucky to rehearse in the comfort of St Lukes Church in Cockatoo, but we are a secular choir; singing songs from many genres and timespans - chosen to suit and reflect the current groups members and their interests. Under the guidance of Dalys (composer/singing and piano

teacher) we learn how to use our individual voices as an instrument, and then how to combine our voices as one instrument to express the intention and beauty of the various songs we are singing. We also have a HUGE amount of fun in rehearsals (and then at gigs when we get to Rockstar our Chops!)

We sing acapella and also accompanied - we are so lucky to have the most AMAZING accompanist - Steve Kyval who is perhaps one of the most Masterful Musicians of all time. Because of our diversity and interest in new and fun things we are often asked to participate in various musical and artistic events. (Participation in events/gigs is not compulsory but it is encouraged (because it's so much fun, and very bonding as a group))

Dalys arranges the songs to suit the voices in the group and creates music notation and recordings for people to practice. Please note that although it's helpful for you, IT IS NOT EXPECTED THAT YOU CAN READ MUSIC - Dalys teaches all parts during the rehearsals and of course you can practise at home with the recordings. All this awesomeness can not come for free - although we keep the costs as low as we can. First session is free to try out, after that we encourage you to sign up for a term (but you can come casually). We rehearse during the public school terms... Here are the rates:

Non-Concession - $15 per session if you sign up for the term (so if it is a 10 week term that's $150) or $20 per session if you come casually
Concession - $10 per session if you sign up for the term (10 week term = $100) or $15 per session if you come casually. For these fee's you can attend all rehearsals and gigs, get a folder of your own music, and access to all the songs we perform broken into parts.

Don't forget, we are rehearsing on Monday!! I know Dalys would love to see you!

The Kings birthday is here
But never you fear
We will still get together and sing

Though we won't have champagne
Or entrees and main
We will still share a wonderful thing

The joy of connection
Of friendship and fun
All the wonderful things that choir brings

For all of your birthdays
Will all come at once
When you open your heart and just sing

So, dont do it for Charlie
At his coming of age
He won't even know you are there

But do it for Dal
She's one hell of a Gal
With her porcelain skin and fair hair.

Elise 😊

We rehearse Mondays during School Terms 7.15pm to 9.00pm at St Lukes Church in Cockatoo....and sometimes even on public holidays.

**GIG alerts!!**

Want to see the Lyrebirds out in their natural habitat? Then come along to one of these amazing performances we have coming up!

Our repertoire so far this year is nothing short of spectacular! The things that Dalys makes us sing are always challenging but when it all comes together no-one is more amazed than us how good we sound! We really should just trust her judgement don't you think? I mean after all, she really does excel at what she does.

See you out there "in the wild" ~ Elise ☺️
