Dr Sure's Unusual Practice
RELEASE KEEPS YA HEAD UP MUSIC VIDEO

“Keep on laughing, keep on dreaming, keep on singing”, the defiant call of Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice rings out across a dystopian New Zealand landscape in the music video for ‘Keeps Ya Head Up’, their third and final single from the forthcoming LP Total Reality. Dr Sure aka Dougal Shaw’s post-modern love song sings of the pursuit of love, the pursuit of your dreams, in a post-apocalyptic setting.�

Keeps Ya Head Up was filmed in Aotearoa/New Zealand, on the band’s recent tour. DSUP were invited to play CAMP A LOW HUM festival which runs over 2 weekends. In the week in between the organiser Ian ‘Blink’ Jorgensen ran a collaborative festival experiment, dubbed Infest. It was here they met Photographer Kieren Sullivan, and spent an afternoon exploring the wild Wainuiomata coast.

“We went on a mission to check out the coast about a 20 minute drive from Camp A Low Hum and it was incredibly beautiful but also pretty raw, a bunch of abandoned cars, howling winds and this Mars-like terrain the deeper you got. Felt like a perfect setting for Keeps Ya Head Up.” says Shaw, “The song itself is set in this not too distant dystopia with it’s neon green sunset. So we went back the following arvo with Kieran, who we’d just met, a bunch of cameras and a very loose idea.”�

Shaw then hand drew close to one thousand frames of scribbles and animations to bring the idea to life. It’s this relentless creative pursuit that could be seen as an extension of the song’s message - to keep pursuing the things you love, those things that keep your head up.

Having just wrapped up their NZ/OZ tour, DSUP set their sights on a European tour in May/June, following the April 19 release of Total Reality. First up they play Do The Pop festival on April 20 followed by a Europe fundraiser show happening at Yah Yah's in their hometown of Naarm/Melbourne on April 24
