Continuing her own tradition of duets with some of Australia’s premiere singer/songwriters, Cheersquad Records & Tapes are proud to present the new single from esteemed Melbourne musician Barb Waters.
Following on from June 2 digital release of ‘Farmer’s Wife’, a duet with her daughter Jeanie Pilkington of Folk Bitch Trio. Barb has teamed up with Van Walker for the country rock-tinged duet banger of the year!
Barb and Van joined forces to collaborate on the new single ‘Chalet Light’, recorded at Melbourne’s Audrey Studios and featuring a stellar line-up of rock legends, including Chris Tabone, Bruce Haymes and Ash Naylor.
Along with the digital release of ‘Chalet Light’ on July 16, a special limited edition vinyl 7” version is available for pre-order. The double A side single of ‘Farmer’s Wife/Chalet Light’ will be available on limited edition translucent teal 7” vinyl and black 7” vinyl through Cheersquad Records & Tapes and will be released on August 13, 2026, in time for Barb’s launch gig at the Brunswick Ballroom, 16 August at 1pm. Barb and Van Walker joined forces to collaborate on Barb’s new single ‘Chalet Light’, recorded at Melbourne’s Audrey Studios and featuring a stellar line-up of rock legends, including Chris Tabone, Bruce Haymes and Ash Naylor.
“I had this song going around in my head – based on the true story of some friends of mine who lived in NE Victoria, one of whom had passed away. But I felt the original song was too sentimental. Van and I had talked about collaborating and knowing that Van has a strong connection with the place (in the song), I sent him a sketch. Within days he came up with the missing ingredients. I can be guilty of second – guessing with song-writing, so when the other person gets the song, and takes it next level, well it’s immensely pleasing..”
