SIGN THE PETITION AND BACK OUR ARTS SECTOR!

The arts and culture in Victoria are in crisis.

Public funding for the most important part of Victoria’s arts and cultural sector has fallen by 35% in real terms over the past five years. The government is investing less into our artists and small organisations than a decade ago, after inflation and despite population growth. We can’t keep up with costs.

Organisations are closing. Artists are losing work. Audiences are becoming disconnected.

Ahead of the November state election, we call for all political parties and candidates to commit to restoring funding and investment to the Victorian arts sector.

Victorians love the arts and culture. A 2024 government report found that 99% of Victorians aged 15 years or over engage in creative and artistic events; millions of Victorians enjoy cultural experiences each year. Such a thrill to screen KIN - Dudi & Jojo at the iconic ACMI with Pasifika Film Fest alongside so many brilliant Pacific films and filmmakers, and to hear Ruci and Joanne Kaisila speak so insightfully and eloquently in the Q&A. Thanks to everyone who came along and shared the experience with us.

KIN – Dudi and Jojo screened to a full house at Cinema Nova as part of Melbourne Documentary Film Festival.

It was wonderful to connect with the other filmmakers and to see audiences connect with the film.

"For Indigenous people, it's about storytelling through our ancestors, through song. How do we connect through our language? How do we understand our identity and keep it alive here?" - Ruci Kaisila, speaking at the Q&A.
