Here is my thought today…Handmade pottery is expensive 🤔
Is it though? Maybe we are use to spending money on different things …
We don’t question paying hundreds for clothes. Even if they sit unworn in the wardrobe
Or thousands on designer pieces - knowing they will be replaced@
Yet pause at original art & pottery … Why?
Because we are comfortable paying for things made by machines
You are buying the potters story- the way they see the world
The original work had never existed before and once sold there will never be another one exactly like it
That’s what makes originals valuable. Not because it is rare but because it’s irreplaceable
Mass production lowers the costs by making more. Original pottery can’t be replicated
Maybe pottery isn’t expensive after all..
Maybe we have just forgotten what something made entirely by human hands is worth
