Say no to numbing cream !
In all seriousness, numbing cream shouldn’t be used when getting piercings.
Why ? Well, least of all, numbing cream doesn’t really work for piercings. It works by targeting the outer skin layers, whereas a piercing needle creates a perforation of the skin.
A hole that goes straight through to the other side.
So, say your numbing cream DOES manage to numb the first layers, a piercing goes much deeper than the surface, so you’d still feel the actual pinch anyway!
The more important reason not to apply numbing cream for a piercing is that it alters the biological makeup of the tissue which can make manipulation of the tissue far more difficult for your piercer. Furthermore, it neglects the precision required when doing a piercing because of where the cells sit in the altered state.
Honestly, using numbing cream for a piercing procedure isn’t worth the money, time or risk to your piercing. The most common response I get from people is that the anticipation was far worse than the split second of pain itself.
Please guys, and I say this with love and kindness, SKIP the numbing cream!
