A welcome sight at the Clare Showgrounds today as the trail riders heading to the Great South Aussie with Cosi Trail Ride at Melrose pulled in for a well-earned rest.

After a long float ride, their horses enjoyed a green pick, a stretch of the legs and a quiet breather before the final leg of their journey north.

Some of these dedicated riders have travelled all the way from Mount Gambier to be part of this iconic South Australian adventure — what an effort!

We were delighted to offer a stopping place and wish them all safe travels for the rest of the ride.

Happy trails and giddy up 🤠🐴

Last night we held our annual Clare Show AGM, with both Redshirts and members in attendance.

A heartfelt thank you to our outgoing committee members:
Dayna Grey, Cody Jones, Sam Hull and Alicia Callery.

Your time, energy and contribution to the Clare Show and Showgrounds are deeply appreciated.

We’re also very pleased to welcome some new faces to the team:
Sarah Lavelle, Kyle Pedler and Jodie Mullighan.

These wonderful volunteers will compliment the existing team of:
Sid Nichols, Liz Fitzgerald, Paulie Calaby, Peta Smith, Steve Sanders, James Meyer, Sharna Juett, Geoff McKinnon and Mark Stewart.
Making our total number of Redshirts at 12 members…

Community groups simply do not survive without the dedication and ongoing commitment of volunteers, and we are incredibly grateful to every person who helps make the Showgrounds such a valuable community space.

And as I always say, “once a Redshirt, always a Redshirt.”

Huge effort from the mighty Clare Show Red-Shirts who were out in force at the Clare Rodeo 2026, helping the rodeo crew sell booze tickets and rodeo merch.

From 3pm right through to 1am, the team kept the good vibes rolling, powered mostly by lolly snakes and cold water while the young crowd kicked up their heels and enjoyed a cracking night.

A big well done to all the Red-Shirts crew for stepping up and lending a hand.

Community helping community — that’s what it’s all about. 🤠👏 🤠

A great evening at The Middle Pub with the Clare Show RedShirt’s dinner and meeting.

Plenty was discussed, with motions put forward and seconded over a delicious meal while sipping some beautiful local Clare Valley wine.
One exciting topic on the table was the discussion around purchasing our showground tractor from another long-time supporter, WSB.

While the Showgrounds host events and provide a valuable space for community use, it’s just as important that we continue to support the local businesses that support us.

Community backing community — that’s what keeps the Clare Show strong.

ON SHOW IN CLARE! 🚜

The Clare and Agricultural and Horticultural Society has been allocated a Thriving Community Program grant to acquire a tractor and slasher for maintenance of the Clare Showgrounds.

This will help reduce the reliance on borrowed equipment and keep the showgrounds safe, accessible and welcoming.

Plus, reduced bushfire risk and strain on volunteers.

160 years and tractorless no more!

For all the homemade sourdough champions out there…now is your chance to not just win bragging rights but a pocket full of cash….

WANTED: Sourdough vigilantes for one big, beautiful bake-off. 🥖

Do you name your starter, celebrate its birthday and consider it a dependent at tax time? Excellent. You’re our kind of baker.

It’s time to rise to the occasion for the Barossa Sourdough Championship - a celebration of crackling crusts, open crumbs and naturally leavened legends right here in the Barossa.

💰 The fine folk at Ground Up Fitness are back, putting up $250 for the best Barossa bake.

🌾 And sourdough specialists Mehl Sourdough are joining the party, awarding a 12.5kg bag of flour (worth $50) to the winners of each of the THREE classes.

Even better? Martin and Beck from Mehl will be presiding over live open judging in the Show Hall - so you can witness every crackle, chew and crumb critique in real time.

Whether you’re a crust connoisseur, starter whisperer or hydration-risk taker, we want to see what you’ve been proofing.

Entries close 6pm, March 11 - don’t let it overproof.

⚠️ Possible side effects of entering include: emotional attachment to yeast, late-night dough pep talks, and insisting “my starter made me do it” is a valid legal defence.

Based on existing prize winning exhibitors entries with tips and tricks to become your own blue ribbon winner….
A must-have book for all the bakers out there that love a great show-worthy spread…🧁🏆🎪

After more than two years of research, writing, test baking and an intensive design and production phase, the big day is finally here. Today is the official release day for The New Blue Ribbon Cookbook. Welcoming a new book into the world is such a joyous moment for an author and I'm here to tell you, that even after 10 previous books, it does not get old.
To mark the occasion, I'm sharing a photo taken at the Angaston Show on Saturday. It was a bit humid so I was definitely not at my best for the camera, but the book looks amazing. I even managed to find a cake from the cookery section that complements the cover, and it was a first prize winner too, entered by Natalie Schiller.
If you would like a copy of the book, it's available now through all good bookshops, as the saying goes.

Well… that was a wet weekend.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible State Emergency Service who had our backs and helped guide the community through it. Your calm presence and tireless efforts never go unnoticed.

The Clare Showgrounds are proud to support our region by allowing emergency crews to train and, when needed, use the grounds as a central hub during times of crisis. Community is what it’s all about.

To all the emergency volunteers who stepped up, lent a hand, checked in on neighbours, and helped keep us safe — we thank you.

We are grateful beyond words 💛
