LOOSE LEAF LITERATURE HIATUS

We are sorry to announce that the Chippo Hotel has closed its doors to us. Loose Leaf Literature is a volunteer-run event, with all proceeds going to the artists involved. Our goal has always been to support the creative communities, and make such communities accessible to all, over turning a profit.

Unfortunately, with this decision, we have made the hard call to cancel our remaining shows for the year. We'd like to thank the Chippo for providing their space free of charge to us for nearly two years.

We extend our apologies to the artists and performers who will now miss out on an opportunity to share their work, and our deepest gratitude to everyone who took the stage or filled a seat.

Loose Leaf Literature will be on hiatus as we work on plans for future events. Loose Leaf Literature has been a labour of love for over a decade, and we intend to continue to support Sydney's creative community for years to come.

A massive thank you to Quartz Vii ( ) for her artistic contributions as our Live Artist for September. Vii created a fresh piece which was raffled away at the end of the night to a lucky audience member (needless to say, everyone had their fingers crossed to win).

Wiska has spent the last few years word vomiting onto the pages of empty books, lugging them across continents and stacking their torn spines and stained pages onto their bookshelf at home. Whether written in a 3am rage or a meditative train ride to university, their work is real. Tapping into the human experience, they display what is often hidden behind closed doors, or mulled in minds behind masked faces.

Get on down to The Chippo Hotel () on Tuesday 16th for Loose Leaf Literature's September show - an evening where we showcase local talent from across Sydney's creative communities. We're delighted to have QUARTZVII return as the Live Artists for the night!

QUARTZVII () is an outer S.W. Sydney based artist working in the medium of illustration, photo video and digital spaces. Wielding psychedelic and surrealist aesthetics influenced by divine iconography, the occult and late early 00s internet-scapes in the pursuit of exploring work that portrays themes of existentialism, purgatory, anxiety, soul abstraction, dysmorphia, trauma and the distortion of memory and the mutation of self.- reaching for the underlying cycles of blooms, decay and temperance.

Ready for some music, comedy, poetry and live art? Loose Leaf Literature's September Show is happening on Tuesday 16th, downstairs in The Den at The Chippo Hotel () from 7:15pm. We're excited to bring you an amazing line up of local talent from across Sydney's creative communities, featuring stand-up performance from Kiyanosh Sahebi!

Kiyanosh Sahebi is a Sydney-based comedian and 2024 RAW National Finalist. Kiyanosh has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including The Comedy Store in Sydney, ComedyLounge in Perth, UNSW Roundhouse, and Melbourne Town Hall. Kiyanosh has also performed as the opening act for local comedians such as Harry Jun and Mitch Garling, as well as international acts such as Amir K, who has previously opened for Theo Von, Maz Jobrani, and many other comedy greats.
