It’s official folks! With immense excitement we are finally sharing this event with the public!

After many years of brain storming a gathering like this around many camp fires with other instructors in the field, we are finally getting it out there & launching

Possumstick Earthskills Gathering 10-14 September

A 5 day camp-out on the east coast centred around earthskills, bushcraft & traditional living skills that have shaped us as humans, no matter where we come from.

There will be instructors from all over the country sharing their unique skills & knowledge in this vast field.

Some of the skills that will be taught: traditional tanning, using the whole animal, flint knapping, weaving, primitive pottery, wild foods & medicine, felting, spoon carving, shelter, friction fire, cordage, tracking, bird language & much more.

There will also be Indigenous folks sharing knowledge, story & culture as well as guest speakers on ethical hunting, nature connection & rewilding (& of course a trade blanket!)

This is for all walks of life & all ages, with 3 full days of workshops running simultaneously! Catered dinners that have been cooked on the coals using animals that have been respectfully processed onsite.

This is a place to not only delve deep into the skills of our land based ancestors but build relationships with folks & deepen the webs of connection to each other & the earth. In these times of destabilisation, these skills bring us back into our bodies & into relationship with ecology. Keeping the ancestral flames burning through remembering what it truly means to be human.

We want to acknowledge the folks across the seas in the US, Europe & everywhere else who have been keeping these skills alive through their ever growing Ancestral Skills Gatherings communities. We were stoked when Rabbitstick organiser Dave Wescott gave us the thumbs up to call the gathering Possumstick inspired by Rabbitstick!

We also want to acknowledge the land we will be gathering on as Aboriginal Land & are grateful for the support & collaboration of local Mob to bring the community together.

We cannot wait to gather by the fire with you all.

Hi Everyone,
We announced recently that we will be having a break in 2026 with no Off-Grid Living Festival happening. We're still getting lots of messages and phone calls about the dates for this year, so I just wanted to remind you all that we won't be back until 2027. We're currently working on new plans, a possible new location and partnership with others to make sure the festival is sustainable into the future. We're passionate about inspiring sustainable change on a broad scale and bringing useful information, resources and connections to people from all walks of life so that we can make a big impact together. This remains our joyful mission and we can't wait to keep bringing you more great events that motivate and inspire.

Be sure to read in full...

𝙇𝙚𝙩 me beg you for a second, seriously. 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙤 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧. Do not get batteries. Do not get an EV. I need you right where you are, crying at the bowser, paying fossil fuel excise like a good little donor.

Fact check first, because reality hurts. The home battery scheme smashed 160,000 installs in the first 6 months. The government admitted they completely underestimated demand, the money was disappearing so fast they had to tip billions more in just to keep it alive. Rebates can go higher then $𝟚𝟘𝕜 on large installs. My fossil fool funded rebate was $𝟚𝟚,𝟘𝟘𝟘, thanks very much bogans.

My setup: 36 panels:18kW rooftop solar plus 48kW battery. Power bill is zero. EVs mean fuel bill is zero. At night, when prices spike, I sell power back to the grid via Amber Energy and make money tax FREE. Total spend $𝟚𝟡𝕜, paid off in 2 years. After that it is pure profit.

Now here is the part that makes me grin like a Cheshire cat. The same people screaming about renewables are the ones funding them. You defend coal and oil billionaires who pay f**k-all tax, ship our resources overseas, force us to import refined fuel, and somehow think you are sticking it to the government. Meanwhile your taxes blood sweat and tears from GST, fuel excises & schooners are literally paying for my solar and battery.

So again, I’m begging you. Do not change dimwits. Keep clinging to dinosaur bones. Keep filling the V8 Landcruiser, the Commodore Berlina V6, the twin-turbo Ranger. Keep burning fossil fuels and paying extra tax at the bowser so the government can keep handing that money to the smart people in the room.

We are perfectly happy taking your money, paying no power bills, no fuel bills, and laughing all the way to the bank. Cheers for the rebate di*****ds.

𝙁𝙪𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙡 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨:
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program has supported delivery of over 160,000 battery installations across Australia since it launched, adding significant storage capacity to the grid.

The initial funding was around $2.3 billion, but because of the massive uptake, the government has expanded the program to about $7.2 billion to keep it running.

Reports specifically note nearly 160,000 battery installations since July, and in some coverage 163,016 homes have been counted within about six months.
