ARTIST PROFILE Becci Nethery

Becci Nethery is an Australian award winning singer/songwriter and performing artist from Chillagoe, Far North Queensland. 
Becci performs yearly at the Tamworth country music festival.
Her current single “Feels Like Home” is described as a “love song” to Chillagoe, capturing scenes from her childhood and the feeling of belonging when returning home.
We welcome Becci to the Chillagoe festival stage again in 2026.

ARTIST PROFILE - BRENDAN WRIGHT

My name is Brendan Wright I am a 24 year old country singer/songwriter from Mareeba, Queensland. In October 2017, I competed in the Far North Queensland Country Music Festival, where I was awarded overall Junior winner and also received a scholarship to the CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music. In July 2018, I attended the CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music in Tamworth. This was such an amazing experience. I was very privileged to be mentored by some of the top country music artists such as Simon Johnson and David Carter, and was also fortunate enough to co-write a song with David Carter, from Carter & Carter. Through this experience I learnt so much about the Country Music Industry. I was also privileged to perform at ‘The Music Makers Show’ in Gympie during the same year. Even though I like to travel, I also enjoy the opportunity to participate in community events including Carols by Candlelight, Relay for Life, Light the Night, Pink Ribbon Day and various church events. In January 2019, at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, I placed in the top five for the ‘CCMA Junior Performer of the Year.’ I also had the opportunity to perform in the ‘Battle of the Young Stars’ on the Coca Cola Stage and to sing in Carter & Carter’s Gospel Choir, as well as busking on Peel Street. In August 2019, I was one of ten Academy graduates selected to perform in the 'CMAA Academy Showcase,’ at the Gympie Muster. In January 2020 during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, I was lucky enough to be part of 'The Young Country Music Showcase', 'Young Guns Showcase' and 'The Golden Octopus Foundation Emerging Artist Showcase' on the Family Zone Stage. I have also had the privilege to perform at The Savannah In The Round as a part of the Walkamin Country Music Club. I am looking forward to performing at the 2026 Chillagoe festival.

ARTIST PROFILE Justene Ross

Justene has been winning peoples hearts since the age of 3 in the country music scene. Competing in Country Music Festivals here in the North and as far South as Tamworth. She currently leads her local band ‘Left of Keno’ with her vocals and has performed the National Anthem at several different bull rides / rodeos.
Justene recently had the thrill of singing along side Luke Geiger at the Country Fest H***y Tonk Pre Party in Cairns.
She is honoured to share her vocals with Chillagoe once again.

ARTIST PROFILE Idris and Alteouise

Alteouise and Idris have recently moved to Chillagoe after having lived the past fifteen years in Port Douglas. Alteouise, a semi-retired opera singer met Idris in Italy almost twenty years ago while they were touring with the Gershwin opera ‘Porgy and Bess’.
Idris has lived in the Tropical Queensland region for many years, whereas Alteouise, originally Californian, moved from New York to Australia after their marriage in Mossman in 2011. The couple have life long histories in the performing arts and are extremely happy to be sharing their love of music with their new found friends at the Chillagoe Festival.
