Calling all witches, wizards, Muggles and magical folk who ordered a custom wand from the Men’s Shed!
We have encountered a small case of magical mischief…
Somewhere between the wand shop and our records, the details of ONE very important wand order have mysteriously disappeared! 🪄💨
We are searching for the witch or wizard who requested a RED wand!
Your wand hasn’t been made yet — we simply need to confirm your details and specifications before the Men’s Shed works their magic and creates your one-of-a-kind wand.
So, if you ordered the RED custom wand, please send the Rex Theatre a message ASAP so we can make sure your wand is crafted to your specifications.
No need to send a Patronus… although that would certainly help us find you!

A HUGE INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE OF THE REX THEATRE!

Tonight, we were incredibly proud to officially receive over $242,000 in funding from Community Bank Charlton & District to support three major projects at the Rex Theatre!

This is one of the most significant local investments in the Rex Theatre's history and will help preserve, improve and future-proof our much-loved community venue for years to come.

The funding will support:

Façade Restoration & Digital Signage
Restoring and enhancing the Rex's iconic Art Deco façade while introducing modern digital signage that will improve safety, reduce maintenance and make it easier for our volunteers to keep the community informed about what's happening at the Theatre.

Cinema Technology Upgrade
Modernising our cinema presentation system by replacing our ageing 2K xenon projector with 2K laser projection technology, as well as upgrading the cinema server and sound processing equipment. This will provide audiences with a more consistent and reliable cinema experience while improving energy efficiency and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements.

Live Production Audio Upgrade
Significantly upgrading our audio infrastructure for live shows, performances and community events, while also supporting the development and training of our volunteers.

Together, these projects represent a major investment in the heritage, technology and long-term future of the Rex Theatre.

Most importantly, this funding will help us continue providing cinema, live entertainment, cultural experiences and community events for Charlton and the wider region for many years to come.

A huge thank you to Community Bank Charlton & District for their incredible generosity and for believing in the future of the Rex Theatre. Your support will make a lasting difference to our community.

We'd also like to thank our amazing volunteers, supporters and the wider Charlton community. The Rex continues to operate because of the incredible people who give their time, energy and support to keep this special community venue alive.

This is an incredibly exciting new chapter for the Rex Theatre, and we can't wait to share the journey with you!

Happy anniversary Harry Potter!
Wow - what a night! The Rex turned on a stunning celebration with the HP universe filling the foyer and beyond. Great to see lots of Harrys and Hermiones, Hagrid, Snape, Professor McGonagalls, a Death Eater, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange and plenty of Muggles. Thanks to the support from Charlton CWA (Country Witches Association!), the Charlton Men's Shed, Mimi's Party Supplies (Jemimah Webb), Vanessa Doghty, Cricket Club Hotel (who entered into the spirit of HP with suitably named dishes) and numerous businesses who supported the Horcrux Hunt. Enjoy the pix!
