Orchestra Nova Newcastle's community orchestra: run by the community, for the community since 1991. We rehearse on Thursday evenings at Charlestown from 7:30pm-9:30pm.

Come and join us! 🎶 Orchestra Nova is Newcastle and the Hunter's community orchestra. It was originally formed in 1991 as the Novocastrian Arts Orchestra. Orchestra Nova continues to perform three to four concert seasons per year at Warners Bay Theatre and other venues, playing well-known popular and classical music for the community’s enjoyment.

✨ MEET OUR SOLOIST: LAUREN O’REILLY ✨

We’re thrilled to have Lauren joining us for Symphony of Stories on Sunday, September 6! 🎶

Lauren’s musical journey began at just five years old with the Australian Girls Choir, performing at the Sydney Opera House more than seven times. At 13, she was one of only 42 girls chosen from over 2,000 auditionees for the choir’s 2019 National Tour — and at 17, she was selected again for the 2023 International Tour, performing across Europe for Australian and European embassies and at the iconic Palace of Versailles! 🏰

Lauren also brings a background in musical theatre and a real love of performing to the stage. Come hear her sing with us!

📅 Sunday, September 6 | 🕑 2:00 PM

This concert is all about young people, children, and families! A program designed to spark a love of music in the next generation! 🌟 In that spirit, we’re excited to showcase two rising young soloists, both former students of our conductor, now making their mark at university.

🎤 Hector Saker is a tenor in his 3rd year studying Classical Voice at the Sydney Conservatorium under Dr Simon Lobelson. Since his school choir days at Newcastle Grammar, Hector has performed with Pacific Opera, tackled Whitacker’s The Sacred Veil, and sung Mozart’s Requiem with St Paul’s College Choir.

🎤 Erin Tassell - A performer since her Newcastle Grammar days in musicals like Annie and Wicked, Erin is now finishing her studies at the University of Newcastle and still loves sharing her passion for music with audiences.
