What a lovely afternoon we had at the Herbs and Scents gathering. We looked at the tiny oil sacks on plant matter that cause them to smell, we made potpourri, soap and a bouquet Garni while sipping our own blends of herb and floral teas and eating lavender cake. Oh, and there was poetry and book readings 📖🍰💐☕️

Today at the Hunter Valley Literary Cake and Flower Society we will be serving Lavender butter cake with vanilla rose cream icing and viola and orange peel sprinkles 💜💐😋🍰

It’s called research!
The prettiest cup of tea and a bathtub complete with calming lavender, skin soothing calendula flowers and sweet red rosebuds. After a stressful day of working on my bookkeeping 😩 I was definitely ready for some of this kind of product testing for our next Literary, Cake and Flower Society gathering- Herbs and Scents!
So far it’s working wonders, and I cleaned the bathtub for the photos

This is one of my SuzziMaggs Dressmaking students. She began sewing with us earlier this year with very limited sewing skills and now she’s making a gorgeous denim skirt complete with the cutest pocket detail which looks great worn at the back or the front.
She told me that she comes to class to have a night away from her busy home/work life, to do something for herself, to meet new people and make new likeminded friends. All while improving her sewing skills so she can make the kind of clothes that she wants to wear!
