The streets of Midland resembled Venice in Italy on Wednesday October 20, 1971 after a freak weather front passed through the area causing thousands of dollars damage to businesses and houses.

Bob Dixon and Harold Reed from the Shire of Swan are pictured clearing one of the street drains.

Taken from The West Australian Newspaper on October 28, 1971.

Thank you to Matthew for addressing our Midwest Museum Chapter meeting, and the first group visit to our new museum premises. A lot of hard work put in by the members of Cervantes in the last few weeks. A great group of people to work with.
