We started off with Maculelê percussion workshop led by Mestre Camaleão (Damiano Spina) and then moved on to a Maculelê movement workshop. Afterwards, we enjoyed a Capoeira Roda with the amazing members of the Melbourne Capoeira community (shout out to and ). We are so grateful to be a part of this incredible community.

We had the absolute honour to kickstart the Victorian Multicultural Commission 2026 Premier’s Multicultural Gala Dinner this Saturday 22 August at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre 🎉🎉🎉

It was an incredible celebration of the strength and pride within the multicultural and multifaith communities in Victoria.

Considering that was a marginalised Afro-Brazilian practice and criminalised art form under the Brazilian Penal Code until the mid 1930s, it meant a lot for us to walk the Honourable Ben Carroll and the Commision to their table with our berimbaus, Pandeiros, and agogô 🙏🏽

It was also great to share moments with others performers during the event! 🎶🎊

We will be raising funds for the Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (V***A), a statewide Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) servicing children, young people, families, and community members in Victoria.

V***A is Victoria’s peak voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. As the largest organisation of its kind, V***A has protected and promoted the rights of Aboriginal children, young people, families and community since 1977.
