I have been involved with horses since the age of eight and they have been a constant presence throughout my life. From Pony Club to international travel working in professional barns across Canada and the U.S, horses have and continue to shape my life.
I studied Equine Management with Melbourne University and taught Horse Husbandry at Victoria University, alongside many years spent instructing children. I continue to ride and compete from our property in Victoria, Australia, where we have six horses.
Over 65 million years of evolution, the horse's contribution to our lives has been immense. Their strength and endurance have allowed us to cultivate the land, provide transportation, and carry us into war. Today, they continue to play a vital role in equestrian sports, celebrated for their athleticism, willingness, generosity and trainability. It is sadly these qualities that have also made horses incredibly vulnerable and misunderstood.
For me it is the feeling of connection and warmth, the sense of freedom they give, their incredible beauty, and the overwhelming trust they place in us to do as we ask. I hope when I paint them that I am able to capture their graciousness, individuality and energy.
I have been blessed to spend my life surrounded by these most challenging and gracious animals and their wellbeing and welfare continue to be one of my life’s greatest priorities.
From competing in Dressage and Showing to running my own equestrian apparel business CAPALL, my paintings and drawings are just another way the love of horses encompasses my life.
