We had the pleasure of hosting Business Mount Alexander in our museum for an evening get together this week.

This project that we worked on for so many years, is starting to really come alive and it’s been wonderful to have so many people through to bring their energy to the space.

We were fortunate to have photographer Craig Gaston capture these beautiful shots of our space in the twilight hours. .gaston.90 🙏🏻

Anne Hall’s gestural works on paper with their distorted facial features have once been described as a reflection of the influence which German Expressionism was having upon Australian art at that time….seen as one of the hiers of the Antipodeans, Anne Hall’s influence on and from husband and artist John Percival is undeniable and in later years their relationship was seen as a creative partnership…

Percival’s 1967 work Veronica and the conspirators contained a section painted by Hall, based on Dutch master Hieronymus Bosch’s Christ carrying the Cross.

In the museum, explore works by other artists such as Austrian Australian George Foxhill and Mic Porter to see further extensions of these influences and styles from their minds.

One of the most creative, original, hardworking and masterful artists we’ve been fortunate enough to meet and become friends with…Mic Porter’s work features throughout the Gaol in many different mediums, from sculpture, wood carving, paintings, burnt cardboard to a mural in the basement that is sure to evoke some of the feelings of being confined in the cells

The museum is open today and tomorrow until 5pm … 🤘🏻

Take a look inside the obsessive, compulsive and constantly evolving collection of art, sculpture and objects from David and Yuge Bromley. A showcase of artists’s works and stories that form a landscape in Australian and International cultural history.

We are a privately owned and run museum, the collection is deeply personal and diverse. It has not gone through the lens of a curator, but rather the rattling minds of two people who are pure and simply consumed with art and creative output.

Explore the 2 hectares of beautiful landscaped gardens and courtyards and wrap your head around the history embedded in the 1861 heritage Old Castlemaine Gaol within which a new interpretation exists, one that celebrates life, joy and art.
