Carnarvon knows how to put on a wicked Seniors Week! 🎉

And 2026 is shaping up to be another beauty! Our hardworking Shire of Carnarvon Community Development team and fabulous Seniors Week Planning Committee came together at the Art Hub this morning to dream up something special for our seniors.

There are plenty of ideas in the mix, including:

🎬 Movies
🧘 Meditation and relaxation
🎲 Have-a-Go Day – fun, games and activities
🐑 Celebrating the Year of the Pastoralist
🍽️ Food, friendship and plenty of good company!

It’s all about celebrating our seniors, bringing people together and having a whole lot of fun along the way.

Stay tuned, Carnarvon! Seniors Week 2026 is going to be a good one! 💛

Is that a Jackson Po***ck? 🤔

Nope! Just a tablecloth bearing the remnants of countless creative projects at the Art Hub! Come in and leave your mark on this accidental community collab 🎨

🎨 Sometimes a paper plate makes the perfect canvas!

We love this colourful creation by local artist Jimmy Nguyen! Mimi fell in love with this little masterpiece and snapped it up! 🐙

There’s something wonderful about the way an octopus can change its shape, adapting to different spaces and surfaces. And we especially love the words accompanying Jimmy’s work: “I’m trying something new.”

That’s what creativity is all about, experimenting, exploring and seeing where an idea takes you!

Congratulations on your sale Jimmy!

The Brien family are travelling around Australia and popped into the Community Art Hub and loved the sound of the Carnarvon Litter Legends Regatta!

They won’t be here on 16 January 2027 - but got creative making a boat of their own 🌊

Meet “The Von!” 🚤
Short for Carnarvon, of course!

Powered by a balloon, a little ingenuity and plenty of creativity, this clever little vessel is ready to make a splash!

Nice work legends! 👏♻️

DREAM BIG CARNARVON CREATIVES! 💫

What a fun day of artistic inspiration at the Carnarvon Community Art Hub!

As an awesome addition to The Good exhibition opening at the Carnarvon Library & Art Gallery - the Shire of Carnarvon was pleased to host acclaimed WA contemporary artist Abdul-Rahman Abdullah for How to Make a Career as an Artist, delivered by ART ON THE MOVE.

This professional development workshop left our local creative community feeling inspired, energised and full of possibilities!

Drawing on 14 years of professional practice, Abdul-Rahman generously shared his experiences, insights and practical advice on building a sustainable career in the arts.

From developing an artistic identity and getting noticed by curators, to exhibiting work, building networks and navigating the realities of life as a working artist, the day was packed with valuable conversations and encouragement.

💡 One of the biggest takeaways? Dream big!

You don’t necessarily need an arts degree to succeed. Building relationships, putting yourself forward, participating in exhibitions and creating opportunities are all part of the journey.

A huge thank you to Abdul-Rahman for his generosity, humour and infectious enthusiasm, and to everyone who joined us for a wonderful day of learning, connection and creative possibility.

This workshop was delivered by ART ON THE MOVE through the Regional Creative Industries Fund, with support from the Western Australian Government.

And these efforts to support Carnarvon artists are directly made possible through the Shire of Carnarvon’s Regional Art Venues Support Program.
