Another beautiful work heading to a new home in Melbourne.

Emerald Encounter by John Wiseman has found its collector — and this one is such a little gem. The colour, the light and that split second of the hummingbird hovering beside the flower make it a work you can keep coming back to.

We loved having this one on the wall, but even more, we love seeing it head home with someone who connected with it.

One of the pleasures of an art fair is watching people look.

The pause. The conversation. The pointing to something the other person might have missed.

Over the past few days, we’ve watched visitors move between photography, painting, works on paper and sculpture — sometimes knowing exactly what they’re searching for, sometimes discovering something entirely unexpected.

That, perhaps, is the best part.

Arrowhead and Cubs by John Wiseman has been collected at Affordable Art Fair Australia and is heading to its new home in Melbourne.

Edition 2 of 30, the work brings together one of wildlife photography’s most compelling subjects with a beautifully quiet moment between a tigress and her cubs.

For us, collecting is about more than owning an artwork. It’s choosing an image you want to keep looking at — and allowing it to become part of the space you live in.
