The Erin Thomas Regional Playwrights Fund empowers regional playwrights to continue with their writing, ensuring that stories from our regional communities are shared, celebrated and respected as vital voices in the fabric of Australian culture.

This End of Financial Year, we’re asking you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Erin Thomas Regional Playwrights Fund, which is only made possible by the ongoing support of the Thomas Family, and the generosity of people like you.

Big or small, your contribution helps us support regional playwrights, amplifying their voices as they write from the regions.

✏✨ Ryanna Clayton, regional playwright & one of the 2025 recipients of the Erin Thomas Emerging Regional Playwright Fund, travelled from Nhulumbuy in North-East Arnhem Land to Meanjin/Brisbane earlier this year to connect in-person with fellow creatives and develop her new work Lure.

During her travel Ryanna worked with Dramaturg Claire Christian, completed a draft of her play, workshopped it with the senior drama students at Indooroopilly State High School, and observed rehearsals for La Boite’s production of Antigone, directed by Courtney Stewart and Nigel Poulton.

The Erin Thomas Playwrights Fund honours the enduring legacy of playwright Erin Thomas, providing enriching opportunities for playwrights to develop their skills and supporting them as they write from the regions.

You may have seen that the Australian Government is developing a new National Cultural Policy to shape the future direction of the creative and cultural sector.

The new policy will set the direction for how the government supports creativity, cultural expression and participation in the coming years.

Australian Plays Transform will be making a submission to the National Cultural Policy consultation process on behalf of Australian playwrights and playwriting sector and we’re also encouraging playwrights to make their own submissions.

Swipe to read what the National Cultural Policy is and how you can shape the future policy, ensuring that its aligned with the needs of artists, arts workers, organisations, and communities nationwide. ➡
