Our team came out of golf course superintendence and design, so a Mini Golf Creations course is built the way an actual course is built. It just happens to fit in a much smaller space and take half an hour to play.

That's the difference, and it's why people who play golf properly still enjoy ours.

Most mini golf builders use whatever turf their local supplier stocks. We went the other way.

We've aligned ourselves with global suppliers and developed our own range of grasses, so the surface on your course is chosen for how it needs to play and how long it needs to last, rather than what happened to be available that month.

That matters because turf is the one thing on a course that every single player touches. Ball roll, ball speed, how a green holds up under thousands of feet a year. All of it comes back to what's underfoot.

If you're on a golf club committee, you've got the most natural site there is.

You already have golfers, the families who come along with them, a bar and a kitchen, and almost certainly a spare corner near the clubhouse or the practice area. A mini golf course turns all of that into a second offering without needing another staff roster.

It also brings in people who'd never book a round. Juniors, non members, families from town. Some of them end up joining eventually.

A question we get asked a lot, usually right before someone signs.

What happens after you've finished and driven off?

We stay available. If something comes up six months in, or two years in, you call us and you get someone who actually knows your course because we built it. Questions about turf wear, a hole that isn't playing how you expected, advice on maintenance heading into summer. All fair game.

It's the part of a build nobody thinks to ask about until they need it, and it's worth knowing before you choose who to work with.

No windmill. No fibreglass dinosaur. Just a green you'd have to read before you putt.

This is what we mean when we say our courses play like real golf. Undulation that changes the line, bunkering, natural materials, flags where you'd expect flags. A decent golfer finds it satisfying and a first timer still gets around fine.

That balance is a design decision, and it's made early. It's very hard to add challenge to a flat course later.

If you run a pub with an outdoor area, this is the post to look at twice.

Maraboon Tavern in Emerald put a mini golf course in beside the beer garden. Not out the back somewhere separate, right there next to the tables where people are already sitting with a drink and a meal.

That placement is doing a lot of work. Parents can see the course from the table. Kids stay occupied. A group finishing lunch has an obvious next thing to do rather than paying up and leaving. The course and the kitchen feed each other.

Most venues have the space for it. It's the layout decision that determines whether it earns.

Every town has one. The lot nobody's used in years.

Mini golf is one of the few things that fits almost any shape of leftover ground. A vacant block, an awkward corner of a public park, a rooftop, the space behind an existing business. The design gets built around what's there rather than needing the land flattened first.

Once it's in, the area starts working differently. People come for the course, then walk to the cafe, then have a look at the shops on the way back. Local businesses feel it before the course does.
