Tomorrow is the final day of Capital Plein Air 2026 and what an incredible week it has been.

It takes so many beautiful humans to pull off an event like this and how lucky am I to have so many of them in my family. 🩵

has been a machine heading out early to set up the tent - go to his day job, and then heading out after work to pack things down again. Working the bar in the evenings and hanging art work late into the night.

Zach has spent the last few days getting the education of a lifetime. He’s putting his entrepreneurial skills to good use. There’s potential in this kid for sure!

Vienne’s military precision around check-ins, shirt orders, art sales and not to mention the all important first aid has held us together all week. We couldn’t have done it without her this year!

And so much gratitude to the rest of my family and extended Meszes tribe who have jumped in to work in the art exhibition and quick draw over the weekend. A truly valued volunteer army.

As always and are by my side in the year leading up to the event helping to navigate all the logistics and preparation. Such great people to work with.

And finally, it’s been an absolute privilege and a joy getting to know over the past couple of weeks — an exceptional artist and educator, and a genuinely generous, humble person who inspires those around him.

I didn’t quite appreciate the magnitude of what was being created when I started Capital Plein Air but couldn’t have done it without these awesome people by my side.

THANK YOU x

Another painting from a few years ago. Nostalgia set in after spending a few days in my old home town driving past so many places I’d painted in the past. Jacaranda season was always a favourite. The violet blooms were a welcome interruption to all that green! This reference photo vs finished painting is a good example of how I simplify when there’s too much information - like detailed tree canopies!!

Iā€˜ve had a great weekend teaching ā€œLandscape Fundamentalsā€ in my old home town. So great to be back and see some familiar faces in my class.

We had a huge weekend working out compositions, dealing with the dreaded greens, and looking at how to convert our process to painting outdoors. A wonderful group of students who worked hard and had a lot of laughs too. Thanks everyone šŸ’š

Here are some pics. If you missed out, I am planning to come back so make sure you’re in my mail list to be notified first. (Link in bio)

I absolutely love painting on the Sunshine Coast and now you can join me. I’ve teamed up with to create a week of painting at my favourite beaches.

Immersing yourself in a week of painting is a great way to improve your skills while exploring new scenery all under the guidance of my instruction.

Dates are 26 July - 1st August 2026.
Head to www.paintingholidaytours.com for more details.

Acrylic artists welcome but demonstrations will be conducted in oil.

I'm getting ready for a trip to Brisbane next week to teach a Landscape Workshop.

You can learn so much from seeing the reference images that inspire finished artworks. Students are often surprised to find that sometimes the reference image isn't that exciting and it's how the artist interprets the moment that makes the painting.

I took this photo from the car window at high speed (my husband was driving) on a country drive to Jindabyne. You'd be amazed how many of my paintings have been inspired from an often blurry or zoomed out car window photograph. My husband always offers to slow down or stop but I tell him there's no point. If we stopped for everything I found interesting we'd never make it home! 🤣

This piece was part of my 2024 Wild Canary Exhibition "A New Season". (sold)
