Kazuko Inomata
From Osaka to Bilk: A Master Enameller’s Journey

Exhibition open this weekend 8-9 November 2025, 11.00 am - 5.00 pm.

Join us this weekend for the special exhibition showcasing beautiful jewellery and objects by renowned Japanese enameller, Kazuko Inomata, during her visit to Australia.

Ms. Inomata’s work embodies the breathtaking beauty of shippō—the traditional Japanese art of enamelling. Known internationally as cloisonné, this intricate craft is famed for its luminous, jewel-like colours and refined techniques, which transform metal into a canvas of intricate design. Kazuko Inomata is a master of cloisonné techniques, where she uses silver and brass wires to create delicate partitions that hold the enamel, resulting in stunning detail and vibrant depth.

She has dedicated her life to this craft, training under Japanese master Tsuruya Sakurai, as well as masters in complementary arts including enameller Aida Yusen, metal workers Koysan Hiramatsu and Kida Goro, and sculptor Okamoto Syouzou. Ms. Inomata now shares her skills with students in her home city of Osaka and internationally.

This is a wonderful opportunity to view and acquire a beautiful collection of her work, available for sale exclusively at Bilk Gallery.

Exhibition Dates: 1–2 November & 6–9 November 2025

Time: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (or by private appointment)

We look forward to seeing you at this special event.

Kazuko Inomata
From Osaka to Bilk: A Master Enameller’s Journey

Opening Saturday 1 November 2025, 3.00 - 5.00 pm.
Exhibition dates 1 - 2 November and 6 - 9 November 2025 11.00 am - 5.00 pm or by private appointment.

You are warmly invited to the opening of an exhibition showcasing the exquisite jewellery and objects by distinguished Japanese enameller, Kazuko Inomata, during her rare visit to Australia.

With a long and respected career, Kazuko Inomata is renowned for her talent and deep knowledge of the art of enamelling —a craft known in Japan as shippō (seven treasures) for its luminous, jewel-like colours and refined, intricate techniques. She trained under Japanese enamelling master Tsuruya Sakurai and has shared her skills with students in Japan, the USA, and Australia, including those who have had the privilege of studying with her in her home city of Osaka. Her standing in the field is further shown by her role as an advisor to the Japan Mint and her membership in the Japan Enamelling Association.

This exhibition features a beautiful collection of her work for sale at Bilk Gallery. The exhibition will be open on 1–2 November and 6–9 November, 11.00 am - 5.00 pm or by private appointment.

While she is here, Kazuko will also be conducting two workshops on traditional Japanese enamelling techniques, offering a valuable opportunity for students attending to learn from her expertise.

We look forward to seeing you at this special event.
