Some months ago I was in a dark place, struggling and feeling quite alone. I met up with and, while waiting for her to arrive, chatted with the lovely local cafe owner of . He wrote me a little note of a quote he had seen on Instagram. It’s been something I’ve kept with me as an encouragement when I’ve needed a little boost. I’m so grateful for these friends and so many other friends in my life who give me a little glimpse of light, a spark, when I can’t see it myself. ❤️

And finished! Super quick and easy, and now I can retire my poor sad busted little purse that I’ve had for the last 12 years or so. 😂❤️ It’s been a beautifully laid back afternoon, sewing, chilling with my birdy, and listening to .hall74 do a bit of homework

Worth every one of the (significant number of) dollars I paid for them when I first took up machine sewing about 5 or 6 years ago. When you buy quality tools, you need never buy them again. I’m reading “Curing Affluenza” at the moment, and my only criticism is that I’d love to see more micro than macro suggestions and ideas in it, but the main idea that’s jumped out at me is this: if we are to look after our planet we need to stop buying s**t we don’t need, and investing in things that will last, and can be repaired, rather than discard and replace. If a new pair of shears would cost me the same as having these repaired or sharpened, in the past I would have just bought new shears. But now, I’m thinking differently: if I can invest that money into *people*, into a service provided by a repairer, rather than creating more waste, it serves a double function: supporting people by creating employment/pay opportunities, and reducing waste.

Eucalyptus leaves are something that I never get tired of drawing; I have a little sketchbook dedicated just to eucalypt leaves. This postcard is for the staff at my partner’s work, who have good humouredly passed along many postcards to Damien. It reads: “When Damien and I first started dating we were long distance, and I used to draw the things from my everyday life as a way of keeping in touch while he was away. Now that we live together, it seems crazy that I’m still sending him little visual love letters, but the habit has become something of a precious tradition. Thanks for humouring my quirky expression of affection, and making sure he receives the postcards safe and sound.” @ Envy Deli Cafe
