Canberra Theatre Centre is Canberra's premier performing arts venue, providing world class performing arts and entertainment to the people of Canberra and surrounding regions. Canberra Theatre Centre includes the 1,239 seat Canberra Theatre, The Playhouse seating 614 and The Courtyard Studio, an intimate rehearsal and performance space that seats up to 92 patrons. The Link connects the Canberra Th

eatre and The Playhouse and includes exhibition and function areas. The Centre also has a comprehensive technical workshop, backstage and dressing room areas, and is fully equipped with up-to-date lighting and audio facilities. Located centrally in Civic Square, Canberra Theatre Centre is the focal point for performing arts in Canberra and is often considered the heart of the city. The Canberra Theatre Centre was opened in 1965 and The Playhouse was rebuilt and opened again in 1998 with a gala concert. Canberra Theatre Centre provides the city with the finest performing arts and the most diverse selection of entertainment from around the country including theatre, drama, dance, cabaret, circus, comedy, all genres of music, musicals, puppetry and physical theatre. Through the use of The Courtyard Studio it also provides a performance space for many local theatre companies and performers. Canberra Theatre Centre is part of the Cultural Facilities Corporation, which receives funding from the ACT Government. Canberra Theatre Centre gratefully acknowledges the support of the sponsors and funding bodies. Canberra Theatre Centre acknowledges the Ngunnawal people as traditional custodians of the ACT and recognises any other people or families with connection to the lands of the ACT and region. Help shape the future of performing arts in Canberra

The Canberra Theatre Centre is seeking Expressions of Interest for membership to the Cultural Facilities Corporation Performing Arts Advisory Committee.

This strategic advisory committee will provide independent advice and sector insight to support the long-term development and cultural leadership of the Canberra Theatre Centre, audience growth and participation, major cultural projects, and the evolution of Canberra’s Civic and Cultural District.

We are seeking a diverse mix of expertise and perspectives, including but not limited to:

- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leadership, cultural authority, knowledge systems and lived experience
- Performing arts and broader cultural sector expertise
- Strategic, commercial and governance experience
- Major project, infrastructure or precinct development expertise
- Audience development, marketing and tourism insight
- Data, digital and audience analytics capability.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from multicultural communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with disability, and people with lived experience of mental illness.
