Have you ever considered a winter wedding? The beautiful Thredbo snow fields would provide a stunning backdrop for your ceremony or at least your photos! Venues, photographers and celebrants in Canberra are often cheaper in the Winter months and what better excuse is there to enjoy a roaring fire to warm your guests!

We are lucky in Canberra to be close to so many beautiful locations to hold a ceremony. I performed a wedding ceremony for this beautiful couple in Mollymook which is only a 2.5 hour drive and provided a spectacular backdrop for their special day!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I love this idea for a wishing tree for guests to write their wishes or pieces of advice for the newlyweds. This would be a lovely keepsake and any words of wisdom could be beneficial in helping in years to come as marriage isn't always easy ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Have you planned your wedding reception entrance? There are some great ideas such as a balloon or comfetti drop as the bridal party arrives, a great light show or even fireworks. If you prefer more of a low key option, have your MC play your favourite song to announce your arrival. Whatever you decide, enjoy the time and choose what works for you both.

Have you thought about how you will leave your wedding reception? You probably have your arrival all planned but it's a good idea to work out how you will say goodbye to your guests and bring an end to the festivities.

There is the traditional farewell circle where guests stand in a circle and the bride and groom thank guests or a last dance exit. I love the idea though of a farewell arch with guests holding sparklers to make a lovely way to exit the reception and get some great pictures.

This picture brings back so many memories! I recently celebrated my 43rd wedding anniversary and was looking at my album and wished that someone had given me advice on what marriage is really like.

The first thing I wish I knew was that marriage can be hard and takes constant work. It can be so hard that sometimes you can’t see a way forward. I wished that I had known that communication is key to everything, talk things through including feelings and the hard stuff with your partner and don’t go to sleep angry. I wish I had known the importance of supporting and trusting one another and having each other’s backs.

But most of all I wish someone had told me that marriage is so worth it and to get to spend your life with the person you love more than anything is life’s greatest joy!!
