A brilliant show from Catherine Crowley here last week. Diving headfirst into a solo show, with her performance and ukulele skills capturing us from the very beginning. A close and warm feeling to the evening, with Catherine’s inviting and humorous storytelling brining us all in over a glass of wine. And stunning musical numbers executed perfectly with vocals and ukulele. Lots of chats and vibing in the foyer with Catherine after the show. A wonderful and warm feeling for cool Canberra nights.

Street Talk | Gabi Sultana

“I personally discovered most of Reich’s work in 2003, when he was artist-in-residence at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague for two weeks, culminating in a city-wide festival dedicated entirely to his music. It was my first real glimpse of how far his music could travel beyond the concert hall.”

Get to know virtuoso pianist Gabi Sultana, as she talks her musical journey starting on piano at age 5, her relationship with Ensemble Offspring, Reich’s impact, collaboration with other musicians and more in Street Talk.

For his first-ever tour of Australia, Lage is continuing the 10th anniversary celebrations for his beloved 2015 solo acoustic album World’s Fair. His first solo release, the album was recorded using a 1939 Martin 000-18. Like much of Lage’s music, the record defies genre, as he finds unexpected connection points between classical music and the American folk tradition.

Hailed by critics and colleagues alike as one of his generation's greatest talents Lage has earned five Grammy nominations, the most recent for his 2024 album Speak to Me.

Very nice to sit down with Tony-nominated, award-winning stage director Kip Williams who dropped in for a chat with our Artistic Director Caroline Stacey and our Canberra theatre professionals. A deep dive into creative process, adaptation principles, the pursuit of the unknown, the performance of identity, his cine-theatre productions, creative collaboration and of course Oscar Wilde with whom we all agreed in our own ways.
