This is no ordinary variety night in Canberra, but a decadent theatre-cabaret where music, clowning, tragedy, and spectacle collide. Shadows spill across velvet, laughter cracks into unease, and every act toys with a deeper question: are we playing the character, or has the character taken possession of us?
Trinculo alone remembers. He knows the Queen is no Queen, only a fool too ashamed of her reflection – and too afraid of what will happen when her Court discovers it. That quiet tension gnaws at the heart of the performance, winding tighter as the night descends into revelry, satire, and theatrical possession.
