We’re in the Canberra Daily!

Canberra Choral Society and National Capital Orchestra are uniting again to present two iconic choral masterpieces: Francis Poulenc’s radiant ‘Gloria’ and Carl Orff’s dramatic cantata ‘Carmina Burana’.

Conducted by NCO Artistic Director Louis Sharpe, the concert features soloists Rachel Mink, soprano; Dan Walker, tenor; and Sitiveni Talei, baritone, alongside substantial local choral and orchestral forces.

CCS Trivia night - Friday 31 July 2026

Tonight we enjoyed rehearsing ‘Tempus es iocundum’ (This is the joyful time) from Carmina Burana, especially with Dan singing all the solo parts!

Mister Scruffles has claimed the score… and he’s not giving it back anytime soon.

Rehearsals are well underway for ‘Carmina Burana’, and it seems we’ve picked up a very discerning (and slightly furry) music director.
Strong opinions, excellent focus, and absolutely no tolerance for page turns.

If you’ve ever tried to practise at home, you’ll know the feeling.

A few moments from Our Stories.

Directed by Dan Walker, CCS Music Director, Our Stories brought together our Canberra Choral Society choir, soloists Rachel Mink (soprano) and Alasdair Stretch (baritone), the Ellery String Quartet, and Sally Whitwell on piano.

A choir, a quartet, a piano, and a room that was listening.

This was a program about lived experience. Voices across generations exploring memory, identity, belonging, and what it means to be heard.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this to life.
