🌿 A new work grown from Canberra.

At the heart of Wanderlust is Dan Walker’s Arboretum, a new work commissioned by Canberra Choral Society and inspired by the National Arboretum Canberra.

The work unfolds across three movements:
Hachi no Ki
Forest of Remembrance
Wide Brown Land

Together they explore trees, memory, landscape and our relationship with place.
We’ll give the world premiere at Wanderlust on 26 September.

Forests, flowers, roads, mountains and wide open landscapes all find their way into this program, with music by Lili Boulanger, Eric Whitacre, Vaughan Williams, Elgar, Bruckner, Sally Whitwell and more.

⛪ Music about place.

Bruckner’s Locus Iste is brief, simple and extraordinary.
The Latin text centres on the idea of a sacred place, making it a beautiful counterpoint to the forests, roads, mountains and gardens that appear elsewhere in Wanderlust.
Here it is performed by VOCES8.
Then come and hear it live in the acoustic of Wesley on Saturday 26 September.

We’re delighted to announce our next concert, Wanderlust 🌿🎶

Join Canberra Choral Society for an afternoon of music inspired by place, landscape and the natural world.

At the heart of the program is the world premiere of Dan Walker’s *Arboretum, commissioned by Canberra Choral Society and inspired by the National Arboretum Canberra.

Alongside it, we’ll be singing music by Lili Boulanger, Eric Whitacre, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Edward Elgar, Anton Bruckner, Sally Whitwell and Arthur Sullivan.

🎶 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN! 🎶

Join the Canberra Choral Society Come & Sing Chorus and perform Bach’s glorious Christmas Oratorio with a full professional orchestra and soloists at Llewellyn Hall.

Our Come & Sing Chorus is open to everyone, including singers with no previous choral experience. We will provide online learning resources, so reading music is helpful but not essential.
