Hello wonderful humans.
Charlie here. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been the one posting on social media, and I’m here today with a heavy heart and some big news about Moonlight Studio.
At the beginning of this year, I handed over the reins of Moonlight to Lola, who was running the studio with the intention of officially purchasing it in April. I stepped back from operations; while we had agreements drafted, nothing was ever signed.
Lola has since made the decision not to move forward with the sale due to a change in her circumstances and a desire to start fresh on her own. Sadly, because I now live in Melbourne and haven’t been in a position to run the business for a while, I’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to close Moonlight Studio.
This change will come into effect on Sunday, April 13th—the end of Term One 2025.
I’ve struggled to find the words for this. I’m gutted—truly. I was hoping for a different outcome. And also, I’ve always been someone who champions people living their truth, honouring their needs, and doing what’s right for them. I wish Lola every success in her next chapter and am deeply grateful for the love and hard work she poured into Moonlight during her time as manager.
The arts community in Canberra is small, but this little Moonlight family has achieved so much. The students and instructors who’ve been part of it have created a legacy of connection, magic, and community that will live on in each of you, wherever you go. There’s no side to choose, no divide to draw—just a call to keep creating love, acceptance, and art wherever we land.
