The Sydney Symphony Orchestra makes its long-awaited return to Canberra with a thrilling program of music for – and inspired by – dance.
Conducted by Benjamin Northey at Australia’s newest venue, Snow Concert Hall, the program opens with Kodály’s vibrant Dances of Galánta, followed by Debussy’s atmospheric Dances for Harp and String Orchestra. Australian composer Holly Harrison’s Hi-Vis (2021) brings a contemporary energy to the program before the evening reaches its spectacular finale with Stravinsky’s The Firebird: Suite (1919 version).
With folk dances, ballet-inspired music and high-energy orchestral works, this is an exciting and long awaited showcase of Australia’s most preeminent orchestra in the capital.
