Stitching Stories: Discover the Art of Nokshi Kantha ✨
A two-part cultural embroidery workshop for women

Join us for a warm and creative workshop where we explore Nokshi Kantha, a traditional Bengali hand embroidery art known for its storytelling through stitches.

Using a simple running stitch called the Kantha stitch, this beautiful craft transforms colourful threads into meaningful patterns and motifs. Traditionally, women created Nokshi Kantha to tell stories about their lives, families, memories, and communities.

In this two-part workshop, participants will learn the basics of this heritage craft and create their own mini Nokshi Kantha piece to take home.

Whether you are new to embroidery or love crafting, this workshop offers a relaxing and inspiring space to learn, connect with others, and discover a beautiful cultural tradition.

✨ All materials will be provided.

This workshop is presented by Crafting My Story, supporting cultural heritage, creative learning, and community connection through shared making.

Note: It is recommended to attend both workshops to gain the full experience; however, participants are welcome to attend individual sessions if they prefer.

✨ A beautiful morning of stitching, stories, and connection at the Whitlam Mingle Place last Saturday!

We had such a wonderful time together exploring the art of Nokshi Kantha stitching, sharing creativity, conversations, and a few peaceful hours just for ourselves. 🧵💛

It was truly heartwarming to see everyone so engaged, enjoying the process, supporting one another, and adding their own creativity and imagination into every stitch. Each piece was unique — just like traditional Nokshi Kantha itself, which grows through personal stories and artistic expression.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and made the workshop so special. Your enthusiasm and encouragement mean so much, and we are so excited that many of you are already keen for the next workshop!

These beautiful cushion covers show illustrations of Garo people, a Tibeto-Burman ethnic tribal group from Bangladesh and parts of India. These cushion covers are hand-painted and would be a lovely addition to any room.

Our beautiful crochet apparel pieces are lovely handmade pieces, made of acrylic wool. This is such a lovely addition to an outfit, especially with us going into the cooler months. These items are made to order and they can be customised. Please note there is a 4-6 week wait time for the items to be made and shipped.

These are our beautiful insect brooches; they are all shaped as different insects. They are made using intricate beading, with an Ultrasuede backing. The insects shown are spiders, butterflies, moths and beetles. These beautiful pieces are a lovely addition to elevate any outfit or accessory.
