Oi!

At work, we were discussing how we all have our "red lipstick story" from when we were little and getting into our mum's makeup. In my case, I'd covered my whole face in my mother's expensive lipstick that also contained a dye because my face was red for a couple of days after washing it off! This cheeky painting is made to be relatable and nostalgic. As a grown-up, I've hidden my good makeup!

I painted this portrait of my wife from life while we lived in Lightning Ridge, NSW, where I previously worked as a Detective. I took up painting to help with the difficulties of working in that field. This was painted in 2019 and is oil on cardboard.

Flooded Memories Ocean Wave Hotel, 1901

I am a self-taught Australian artist, originally from Pakistan, working on a series of vintage watercolor Australian cityscapes. My aim is to create a minimalist color palette that balances muted, monochromatic tones with subtle hints of color, blending the nostalgia of the past with a fresh contemporary feel. The series revives old Australian culture for new generations, fusing heritage with artistry.

This artwork depicts a 1901 street scene featuring the historic Ocean Wave Hotel in Sydney. Multi-story stone and wooden buildings line the street, with picket fences and figures in period clothing standing on the sidewalk. I took creative liberty with the original reference by flooding the street, allowing the architecture to reflect beautifully in the water. The scene is bathed in soft natural daylight, with earthy ochre tones and a pale blue sky, painted in a traditional watercolor style.
