The Red Room Theatre is a small, independent theatre company established in 2011. We had a home birth, based on our desire to create dynamic theatre from the ground up. Our mission is to produce entertaining and thought provoking theatre works developed in our intimate home space, that can translate to a broad variety of settings - traditional theatre spaces, galleries, stately homes (and less sta
tely homes!). Our first production was Emilie's Voltaire, written by American author Arthur Giron the play opened at the 2011 Castlemaine Fringe Festival to rave reviews and sell out shows. A thinking-person's bodice-ripper, this romantic comedy told the fascinating story of 2 giants of the Enlightenment - Voltaire and his lover, mathematician Emilie du Chatelet. We are currently working on our second production Purgatorio, by Ariel Dorfman which will be part of the Castlemaine State Festival 2015 program.
