Caloundra Film Festival

Caloundra Film Festival The primary aim of the Festival is to connect with the greater community about film culture through The Caloundra Film Festival began in 2013.

With the kind assistance of our principal partners, The Sunshine Coast Council, Screen Queensland, Big Screen Cinemas Caloundra, Telstra T-Stores and University of the Sunshine Coast we have grown substantially each year. This event will fulfill one of our primary aims; to connect with the greater community and engage with them about film culture. The Student Showcase, which is our initiative to h

ighlight the talents of the media students in this region, highlights one of curatorial ambitions for the Festival. We also owe a debt of thanks to the committed teachers of Film and Media who bring out the best in their students and who are utterly committed to them. Starting in 2017 we commenced our monthly foreign language and art-house screenings which have proved immensely popular. We would like to thank our monthly sponsors McGrath, WDCi, Newstead Brewing Co. and Mercedes Benz Sunshine Coast for supporting this initiative. We are not just about showcasing the best of local and world Cinema, we aim to encourage the brightest and youngest of our film makers and provide pathways for them to fulfill their ambitions. The Festival also owes many thanks to Nick Struik and family who operate Big Screen Cinemas, Caloundra. Nick and his team provide cinema space for the Festival and help us in every way. We will continue in our aim to become a leading film festival and a regional event. It is our wish to attract partners, filmmakers, local and international visitors and to engage with the communities in our greater region to deliver a festival that demonstrates how rich and varied both the film world and this part of the world can be.
