From humble beginnings in regional obscurity, stretched and moulded through years of hard work, fuelled by tenacity, rigour and persistence, JUTE Theatre Company has become a dynamic, award-winning, nationally regarded new work theatre company, sitting at the forefront of industry practice and consistently seeking new boundaries to explore in theatre practice. Drawing on over three decades of indu

stry experience, JUTE is a crucible in which new stories and perspectives are forged that inspire our communities and allow us all to reimagine ourselves through powerful shared theatre experiences. JUTE yields the floor to regional voices to examine the marginal, the unexplored, the unforeseen, to create stories that impact us deeply and change our world. We do this through a wide range of inclusive programs of new work development, productions and touring, our Dare to Dream regional and remote tours with residencies, training, mentorship and community outreach.

Braithe Ellis and Adria Cunningham both came through our JUTE Actors Studio Pathways before going on to study acting at QUT School of Creative Arts. Their journey is a real example of what can come from local training, encouragement and taking the next step.

For students who are curious about acting, performance, theatre-making or creative arts study, and for parents wanting to understand what these pathways can look like, JUTE and QUT are hosting a free Information Session.

It'll cover QUT’s creative arts study options, what the acting application process involves, and how to prepare for auditions. There will also be an audition preparation seminar to help students feel more confident and informed about what to expect.

You’ll have the chance to hear from QUT alumni, ask questions, and get a clearer sense of where creative arts study can lead. Make sure to register at https://events.humanitix.com/qut-information-session

We’re excited to share that we’re heading to Meanjin/Brisbane this September for the Australian Performing Arts Exchange.

PAC Australia - APAX is a great chance to connect with artists, producers and presenters from across Australia, and share a little about what JUTE is working on at the moment.

Looking forward to being there and being part of the conversation.

Over the last couple months, we've been proud to be involved with Harmony Voices, a free community-engaged creative program developed with our partner Centacare, designed to build English literacy and fluency through theatre-making, storytelling, and song.

After weeks of work, our participants (from 10 different countries!) are putting on a showcase to demonstrate how their English and confidence has improved. Please join us to celebrate our wonderful multicultural community! It's FREE entry, but please RSVP 👉 https://events.humanitix.com/harmony-voices-showcase

Our Regional Arts Advisors from JUTE Theatre Company, Cass Ramsay and Jess Lamb are helping to shape vibrant arts communities through their work in playwriting, producing and community-led arts projects.

Based on Darumbal Country in Yeppoon and Yuwi Country in Mackay, they share their insights on creating theatre, supporting artists, building meaningful collaborations and navigating creative careers outside metropolitan centres.
