Strings of the North

Yesterday, Strings of the North performed in the most idyllic (and coldest) of places! It went down to 10°, and thanks to the high cold winds and swiftly dropping temperatures, none of us could feel our fingers by the end of the day! The views, however, were spectacular, as was Mr. Cassowary, spotted right there out in the wild as we climbed the 250-hairpin-turn mountains of the Gillies Highway. Never a dull moment in Far North Queensland- all in our day’s work!

Strings of the North - our premier chamber music group of the Far North- presents the next concert in our chamber music series.

Reflections features Handel’s complete Water Music Suite in a new arrangement, together with Elgar’s timeless Serenade for Strings, and Mozart’s later quartet, k370 in F Major.

There are always a few more musical surprises in store, and audiences seem to enjoy our narration, bringing to life the historical context and stories behind each great composition.

Please enjoy the A/C comfort of St. Margaret’s Anglican Church.

Strings of the North that’s a wrap for 2025!
So many Candlelight concerts, our Cairns Winter Chamber Music Festival Series, Songs at the Library, St. Margarets, Cairns, Cairns Libraries, Cairns Regional Council, St John's Anglican Church, Cairns- so many venues and organizations to thank for a brilliant year!

We string quartet members adore playing together and live for the moments of musical camaraderie, joy, bliss, and pure beauty that rehearsing and performing together brings.

To each and every one of you that come along and support us, singing along, clapping, standing ovations, attendance, collaboration, we wish you a wonderful Merry Christmas 🎄 and see you for so many exciting concerts and great announcements in the New Year!

Hallelujah! Strings of the North had such a wonderful time performing at St. Margarets, Cairns on Sunday for our Christmas 🎄 in Paradise concert.
