Spirit

Spirit Zane Saunders will present an interactive showing of the creative development for the new work, “Spirit”, as part of CIAF 2017. (with Nicholas Mills)

In collaboration with media artist and creative producer Nicholas Mills, “Spirit” will engage audiences through object, environment and performance. Spirit: an extraordinary experiential vision, created and implemented by archetypal design. Spirit encourages directors, artist and audiences to take breath, and be consumed by the beliefs, knowledge and experiential tapestries of life and the culture

I'm excited to share these photos captured at an event I attended which speaks of my recent trip to Brisbane as a chosen representative regional artist from North Queensland.

I was a successful applicant/recipient by applying in writing and expressing my interest to attend this years APAF event as a delegate to TNA’s (Theatre Network Australia) 2023 Australian Performing Arts Forum - APAF held in Brisbane (Meanjin) at the Powerhouse on Yagara Country 13-15 September 2023.

Without the financial support and guidance from each of these particular organisations I would not be able to be in such privileged position to experience an exciting, inspiring and informative arts event.

Thank you to the three instrumental organisations - ‘This project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, provided through Regional Arts Australia, administered in Queensland by Flying Arts Alliance.’

Zane Saunders is an interdisciplinary artist, who courageously embraces installation, sculpture, and media to create challenging contemporary performance. A descendant of the Gunggari and Butchulla people of Southern Queensland, Saunders lives in Kuranda. His spirituality – and the people and the culture – are the basis of his work.

His latest work 'Cure' seeks to re-establish and implement contextualised cultural and spiritual community practices. 'Cure' challenges the idea of industrial agriculture and organised religion versus First Nations spirituality.
