Cairns Brass has been providing music to the Cairns community for over 80 years! Starting out as the Cairns Boys Band in 1931, Cairns Brass has grown and developed over the years and currently consists of three strong bands:
CAIRNS BRASS NO. 1
Cairns Brass No.1 is our most competitive band. Cairns Brass No.1 comprises of everyday locals – bankers, teachers, health care workers and students – al
l who share one love: brass banding. The band regularly compete at regional, state wide and National competitions, as well as performing regularly in the Cairns community at many different events – The highlight being our annual concert “Brass Sweat & Tears” held every October. CAIRNS BRASS YOUTH BAND
Cairns Brass Youth band, made up of students aged between 13 and 18, is full of our up and coming young stars! This vibrant and energetic band regularly performs in the Cairns community and has taken home various prises at regional and state brass band competitions over the years. Taking out first prize in 2015 D Grade QLD States in all sections and being named overall state champions, we look forward to continuing onto big things with these musicians in the near future! Our youngest band is the Cairns Brass Junior Band, and as the name suggest is a junior training band for our youngest brass players. This band, consisting of beginners and intermediate students aged 6 to 13, has also taken home various prizes at regional and state brass band competitions – the most memorable being the 2015 QLD State Championships, where the Junior Band took out all sections and were named the overall Junior QLD State champions.
