At The Cairns Children's Festival this Sunday, over 200 rescued bears found their new fur-ever homes - and looked oh so fashionable in their new teddy clothes.

Overall Arts is seeking Assistant Arts Facilitators for the Overall Arts Creation Stations in the Cairns Children’s Festival. The Cairns Children’s Festival takes place over 16th & 17th of May, 2026.

Assistant Facilitators must have a Valid Blue Card (Working With Children), a whimsical vibe and a love for arts and crafts. It’s all about the kiddos and their art, our job is to make a magical experience for them.

On Saturday 16th @ CPAC Overall Arts will be running a children’s Zine Making station.

On Sunday 17th @ The Tanks, Overall Arts will be running “Teddy Bear Rescue” - a fabric crafts and mending station for children and their families.

We are seeking a total of 8 assistant facilitators over both days (4 on Saturday, 4 on Sunday). This is a paid work opportunity :)

Spotlight on - ✨️Jo✨️

Overall Arts has the continued privlidge to mentor emerging regional artist & UniSQ undergrad - Johanna Beard ._.faye

Amber Grossmann connected with Jo through the O, Ophelia DARTS Tour in March 2025.

In November, Jo arrived in Giumy and immediately got to work interning and assisiting on "COOKED", an Overall Arts X JUTE Co-production.

Currenrrly, Jo is in development of their own adaptiation of "Lo Strupo" by Franca Rame (1975)- a cutting agitprop, feminist work that explores sexuality and violence under facist regimes.

Amber is delighted to be a dramaturge on this work, helping Jo to shape their voice. (And putting that history major to good use!)

Cooked is a fresh new play by Kathryn Ash, performed by the senior graduates of JUTE Actors Studio.

Directed by Amber Grossmann and co-produced with Overall Arts, this production is the result of a year of creativity, learning and hard work.

Amber has mentored these emerging performers through the JUTE Actors Studio pathways program — now they’re ready to shine!
