As a producer, he’s gained global recognition β€” winning Kenny Beats’ beat battle and catching the attention of Questlove. Known for his high-energy, genre-spanning sets and raw creativity, SPELL continues to prove he's the real deal behind the decks and on the pads.

During the pandemic, Spell shifted his focus to using the Twitch streaming platform to broadcast his beat making sessions, and amassed more than 40,000 followers. Now that he’s got a steady income, beat making has now turned into his full-time job and seen his artistry continue to flourish.

🎢 29th July will be our last Beatlab event for a while.

For the past four years we have celebrated local producers and their tunes. After this one, we will take a hiatus to think about how we can refresh the format.

Bad news first. Due to the lockdown in Victoria, our special guest Chad Wallz won't be able to make his way to FNQ for BeatLab: Stereo Lounge on August 27. We will try to get him again for a future event.

The good news. Our other Melbourne act, Aoi, recently relocated back to Cairns after many years in Melbourne. When people throw around the terms 'abstract beats' or 'experimental beats' it's often just marketing wankery. This dude, though, brings a flavour from waaay-off the beaten track.
