Join us for the opening of 'Balun Gawarima – River Story' by Melody Popple
5 - 7pm Friday 12 June 2026

Featuring a Welcome to Country by Danza Deacon and a special performance by the Doobai Dancers.

Developed through Melody Popple’s PhD research 'Moving Through Waters, 'Balun Gawarima – River Story' explores the cultural significance of water on Bundjalung Country through bush dyeing, natural pigment processes, and visual story-mapping.

Created across major waterways of Bundjalung Jagun, the exhibition brings together eco-printed textiles, found materials, and water gathered from specific river systems to create immersive works that speak to memory, healing, disruption, renewal, and connection to Country.

We warmly invite you to experience this powerful exhibition and opening event.
